The Basilica of the Sacred Heart is a high place of prayer, a sanctuary of Mercy. The military defeat of 1870 and the various humiliations inflicted against the authority of the Church animated France towards a return to the path of forgiveness. By a national wish, France decided to erect a building dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Today, this national monument is a place of pilgrimage of major importance for Christians.
